The Eight No-Compromise Steps of Essence by Isagenix Essential Oils
Essence by Isagenix Essential Oil is backed by the Isagenix no-compromise commitment to quality and safety through a detailed, comprehensive quality and safety process.
Isagenix has created products based on a commitment to no-compromise quality since its inception. We have built our reputation on exceeding all standards commonly used in the nutraceutical industry, and our no-compromise standards place Isagenix in a category of its own. The introduction of Essence by Isagenix Essential Oil is familiar territory for the company, both in harnessing the power and benefits of botanicals and following no-compromise quality standards in creating and bringing our Customers the highest-quality essential oils possible.
Here’s an overview of how that process demonstrates how Essence is in full accordance with our no-compromise quality standards for purity, safety, and authenticity:
Step 1- Crop selection based on evidence that shows benefits
We partner with only carefully vetted and responsible suppliers that have 100+ years of combined experience in the growing, harvesting, and manufacturing of essential oils. Through these relationships and their practices, we have identified the most sought-after raw materials grown in precise agricultural and meteorological conditions around the world with unique properties that cannot be replicated elsewhere. Naturally occurring aromatic plants are selected based on evidence that shows benefits when they’re used in aromatherapy, paying special attention to the plant origin and the part of the plant from which oil is extracted.
Step 2- Meticulously executed extraction
The oils are extracted from the plants using steam distillation or cold pressing depending on the species and plant part. Steam distillation passes steam through the plant material to collect the essential oils, while cold pressing extracts the oils; by mechanically crushing the plant followed by separating the essential oil via centrifugal force.
Step 3- Expert organoleptic testing
The extracted oils are sent to Isagenix for organoleptic testing and approval, ensuring that the appearance, color, and fragrance are up to standards. If the oil is not up to the standards of our trained experts, the oil is rejected.
Step 4- ISO standards verification by third-party testing labs
Once approved, the oils are sent to industry-leading, third-party laboratories in both the U.S. and Canada to perform identification, purity, analytical, and microbiological testing. For Identification testing we use several test methods including gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID). These tests detect all the components that make up the specific oil and ensure that each oil meets the high standards set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) — which validate the quality and purity of the oil. Additional tests to assess and ensure the quality and purity of the oil are performed on every lot prior to release include: refractive index, specific gravity, optical rotation, heavy metals for contaminants, microbial and organoleptic evaluations.
Step 5- Bottling in FDA-regulated facilities
The Isagenix Quality Control and Assurance team release the approved oils to be filled, bottled, and labeled at FDA-regulated food facilities that have been thoroughly vetted and have met our no- compromise quality standards.
Step 6- Microbiological testing by third-party labs
The essential oils are sampled and submitted to third-party laboratories for microbiological testing to ensure the oils are 100 percent pure and free of bacterial contaminants. An additional organoleptic test is performed to ensure quality.
Step 7- Isagenix Quality Assurance Review
Samples from each batch of Essence are shipped to Isagenix World Headquarters in Arizona for final evaluation by our Quality Assurance team. This round of testing consists of organoleptic (sensory), analytical, and documentation verifications prior to the oil’s arrival in our distribution centers.
Step 8- Safe delivery of no-compromise, shatter- and leak-proof packaged products
Finally, 100 percent pure, authentic, and no-compromise Essence by Isagenix Essential Oil products are packaged in shatter- and leak-proof packaging to ensure that the integrity and quality of each individual oil is safely delivered to your door!

What is an application oil and why should I use it?
Fractioned coconut oil is the only ingredient in Essence Coconut Application Oil. Fractionated coconut oil is the most popular oil used for applying essential oils to the skin. It is moisturizing, odor free, and non-greasy.
Application oils are necessary because they help ensure that the essential oil of choice is comfortable on the skin. Pure essential oils are concentrated and can sometimes be irritating for sensitive skin types when applied without dilution. Isagenix application oil does not reduce the effects of the essential oil, but minimizes skin irritation.
What if I experience skin discomfort or irritation?
When applying an oil topically for the first time it’ a good idea to place one drop in an inconspicuous area to see how your skin reacts. To minimize skin sensitivity, mix with a few drops of Isagenix Coconut Application Oil. If skin discomfort or irritation occurs, discontinue use on the affected area. If the reaction persists it is best to consult with a doctor.
Where should Essence essential oils be applied topically?
Diluted essential oils can be applied to most areas of the skin. However, refrain from applying oils to sensitive areas such as near the eyes and ears.
Can essential oils be used during pregnancy or while nursing?

What about the use of Essence Essential Oils if I have a medical condition or take prescription medication?
It is always recommended that you consult with your doctor if you have a pre-existing medical condition or take a prescription medication prior to using any Isagenix product, including Essence Essential Oils. Your health care provider can help you determine if there are concerns that may be important for you when using essential oils.

Peppermint Oil-Infused Water May Support Your Workouts
According to preliminary yet promising findings of a new study, athletes who enjoy adding a hint of peppermint into their water for flavor might find another benefit: improved performance during workouts.
Peppermint oil is among the most popular essential oils and known for its flavoring and fragrance properties. Peppermint is widely used in food, cosmetics, and even pharmaceutical products. One of the major components in peppermint essential oil is menthol, which is reported to have cooling and soothing effects when used topically after a workout (1).
However, more recent research is investigating the effects peppermint essential oil may have on markers of exercise performance. One study, published in the Journal of International Society of Sports Nutrition, studied the effects when 12 healthy males in their 20s ingested 0.05 milliliters, about one to two drops, of peppermint essential oil mixed into 500 ml (about 16 ounces) of mineral water daily for 10 days (2). The study also measured markers of lung function and exercise performance using a standard treadmill exercise test before and after the 10-day intervention period.
After supplementation, researchers found significant improvements to lung function and other related parameters indicating enhanced respiratory output and energy expenditure during exercise. Work, power, vertical and horizontal distance, and time to exhaustion also improved significantly.
More research needs to be done to find the exact mechanisms for how consuming peppermint essential oil supports exercise performance, but existing evidence may possibly provide clues. Previous research has shown the main component in peppermint essential oil, menthol, supports strengthened lung function (3, 4).
There’s also extensive research showing aromas such as peppermint essential oil may affect physical performance by impacting cognitive performance, perceptions of physical exertion, and pain response (5-7).
This study and others offer promising insights into ways peppermint essential oil may improve exercise performance. Although the research did not specify when to consume the oil around exercise, it’s suggested that simply ingesting it daily may lead to results.
Otherwise, diffusing peppermint essential oil in the hours leading up to a workout for alertness or keeping it in a gym bag to apply topically on muscles after a workout might also support exercise performance.
